Lord Mayor’s Visit
We were delighted to welcome the Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Deirdre Forde to our school on Monday 17th October. Ms Forde was welcomed by a guard of honour with representation from the Junior Forum and Student Council. Three of our students played Cork’s anthem “The Banks of my own Lovely Lee” for her as she entered the school and was greeted by our Head Girl, Kate Ahern and Deputy Head Girls Izabel Gough and Tara Lyons. Our two Head Girls welcomed the Lord Mayor and addressed our student cohort as Gaeilge and in English. Both students spoke so eloquently about Nano Nagle and our Presentation traditions. The Lord Mayor spoke passionately about the importance for female voices to be heard and represented in policy formation and also spoke about Cork City Council’s commitment to inclusion and sustainability. The students had an opportunity to ask questions following the Lord Mayor’s address. We wish Lord Mayor, Deirdre Forde, continued success in her year ahead.
