Child Safeguarding and Student Welfare

1. New “Child Protection Procedures for Primary and Post-Primary Schools 2017” came into effect on 11 December 2017.

2. The Board of Management of Christ King Girls' Secondary School has formally adopted a Child Safeguarding Statement on 15th August 2024, as DES requirements with the commencement of a new academic year.

3. The Child Safeguarding Statement was formally reviewed by the Board of Management on 15th August 2024. To view the Child Safeguarding 2024 - 2025 review please click Child Safeguarding Statement and Risk Assessment.

4. Board of Management must undertake a review of its Child Safeguarding Statement and that the following checklist shall be used for this purpose. The review must be completed every year. 5. The Principal, Ms Richel Long, will present a Child Protection Oversight Report at each meeting of the school’s Board of Management.

6. Any persons with child protection concerns are invited to contact a member of staff or the Designated Liaison Person (DLP), Ms Richel Long, or, in her absence, the Deputy Designated Liaison Person (DDLP), Dr Caroline O’ Sullivan-Ryan.

7. The Board of Management will be reviewing all checks associated with the new child protection model in the coming months to ensure full compliance by the school.

8. This section of the school website will be used to provide updates to members of the school community in relation to general child protection matters.

9. Our Partons CEIST were Notification of Review of Child Safeguarding for the coming academic year 2024 - 2025.
