CHRIST KING SHOWS ITS BEST AT OPEN EVENING

Christ King Girl’s Secondary School has held it’s Annual Open Evening. The Open Evening is an excellent opportunity for parents, both current and prospective, to come and visit the school, tour the facilities as well as meet, and talk to, staff and students. There were a number of presentations throughout the school showcasing the wide range of subjects and facilities available in Christ King.

Christ King Principal, Mary Keane, addressed visitors and spoke of the school’s long and proud tradition of providing the best possible education to it’s pupils in a caring and nurturing environment. “Our girls achieve their full potential through their own hard work and through the commitment and dedication of the excellent staff we have here in Christ King,” said Ms Keane.

Many Christ King Leaving Certificate students of 2012 have gone on to third level this autumn. Emer Byrne, who achieved 605 points, is attending Mary Immaculate College to train as a Primary Teacher as are many others. Jessica Mac Sweeney is at university in Glasgow studying Aerospace Engineering. Aideen Buckley is at UCC studying Dentistry and Katie Livingstone is studying Medicine. Janina Zambryzcka is studying Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Engineering at CIT. Laura O’Donnell and Deirdre O’Donovan are studying Arts at UCC.

Every year 75 students approximately go on to study at UCC and a further 35 study at CIT. A significant cohort go on to study at Mary Immaculate College of Education to train as Primary School teachers while others go on to study at the College of Commerce and other Universities.
